OBITUARY
Chrissy Gibson
It is with deep regret that I have to announce that our good friend Chrissy Gibson passed away today after a hard fight against cancer being diagnosed just after her retiring. Chrissy fought like a Trojan and was always very upbeat about like and when she was able continued to support dog shows showing her two girls Cora and Lena. She will be greatly missed around the show ring and on committees that she also like to support. RIP dear friend and our condolences go out to her family at this time. Val Phillips.
The committee have agreed to run a Chrissy Gibson Memorial Class in her honour at the next show.
I am an artist based in London and I was wondering if any of your members might be interested in buying one of my paintings, that features a Wire Haired Dachshund?
The painting is called Honest Dog and it is 120 cms x 76 cms, oil on flax (unframed). A neighbour’s dog did the modelling for me, but the dog has sadly died - and the owner can’t bear to be reminded of her dear departed friend.
I normally paint people and I have work in the private collections as well as public - including the National Portrait Gallery, London.
This is just a one off opportunity that I thought a lover of this particular breed might appreciate.
Gallery price for this painting would be about £1000. However, I would be happy to negotiate a private sale price since it is coming straight from the studio.
It is a striking painting, and I liked Boris (who was the dog) because he reminded me of the symbolic “Lamb of Christ” imagery often seen in religious painting.
He was a character.
Please feel free to pass my details onto your members.
Best wishes
Jim McLean
